Helene had a 3-4 month history of lower back pain that traveled into her left leg. An operating room nurse, she had injured herself at work and was only getting worse. She had back pain previously in 2004 and 2005 and yet again in 2006 when she was injured. The pain was sharp, burning and stabbing in her lower back and buttock, and it traveled all the way down her leg. She had numbness in her toes and noticed weakness.

Helene had to give up Tae Kwon Do, she couldn?t do her shopping and other activities she loved, she couldn?t even sit for 20 minutes. She had been treated with physical therapy, had taken analgesics and anti-inflammatory medications, and was on Oxycodone when she first came to the Institute hoping she could find relief at last. Her MRI and physical examination showed a herniated disc at the L4-5 level. Helene began the Lordex spine program and today is completely pain free.
